Murphy's Keg Hire
A creamier, slightly sweeter Irish stout than Guinness. We supply 30L and 50L Murphy's kegs with a G-Type coupler, 70/30 mixed gas and a cooler set for cellar temperature, not extra-cold lager.
Wedding or party with 80 adults or more in England or Wales? We can bring a fully staffed cash bar for £150 instead. Guests pay at the bar and there is no minimum spend.
Murphy's keg specifications
Murphy's Irish Stout is 4.0% and nitrogenated. It needs 70/30 gas (70% nitrogen, 30% CO2) and time to settle in the glass. It is not a lager and it is not a copy of our Guinness page: the coupler is G-Type, not U-Type.
| Specification | Details |

70/30 gas, G-Type coupler
Plain CO2 turns Murphy's into a fizzy dark lager. We supply 70/30 mixed gas on every full setup so the pint can surge and settle. That is the same gas family as Guinness, but the hardware is not interchangeable: Murphy's is G-Type, Guinness is U-Type.
Choose Murphy's when you want a stout that is a touch sweeter and creamier than Guinness, or when the venue already has G-Type stout lines. Choose Guinness when guests specifically asked for that pour and you want the U-Type kit we already run for it.
Do you need a cooler?
Stout is cellar temperature, not extra cold. We still use a cooler to hold 8–12°C in a warm room. Serving Murphy's at 3°C like a lager kills the texture. Serving it at room temperature in a marquee makes it flabby. The cooler is there to hold the middle.

How we pour Murphy's
Two-part pour, then wait. Do not copy a lager technique and do not assume it is identical to Guinness hardware.
G-Type and 70/30
Fit the G-Type coupler and confirm the gas is 70/30 before the first pour.
Part fill
Glass at 45 degrees, tap fully open, stop around three-quarters.
Let it settle
Wait until the surge drops to a dark body and a cream head. Rushing this wastes the pint.
Top up slowly
Finish the glass so the head sits just proud of the rim. That is the serve guests came for.
How it works
A straightforward hire, from first enquiry through to collection.
Tell us the brief
Send the date, venue and guest numbers, plus whether you want Murphy's on its own or as part of a wider keg hire bar.
We spec the kit
We confirm keg size, the correct coupler and the right gas before anything leaves the warehouse.
Delivery and setup
We deliver, connect the lines and run the first pints so the system is pouring correctly.
Collection
After the event we collect the keg, gas and cooler. Any unused keg that is still sealed at collection is refunded in full.
Coverage and logistics
Murphy's is the stout we send when Guinness is not the brief, including some St Patrick's parties and wedding bars that already run G-Type lines. Delivery is from the Midlands across our coverage areas.
Compare with Guinness keg hire if you need the U-Type setup, or see stout kegs and the main keg hire hub.
Hire packages
Prices depend on keg size, location and date. We quote each event rather than listing a flat national rate.
