Thatchers Keg Hire
Somerset cider on tap, not a lager page with the name swapped. We supply 50L Thatchers Gold kegs with a G-Type coupler, CO2 and a flash cooler for garden parties, weddings and outdoor bars.
Wedding or party with 80 adults or more in England or Wales? We can bring a fully staffed cash bar for £150 instead. Guests pay at the bar and there is no minimum spend.
Thatchers keg specifications
Thatchers Gold is a 4.8% medium-dry cider from Myrtle Farm in Somerset. The standard hire keg is 50L (about 88 pints) on a G-Type coupler. It is a cider serve: colder than an ale, less aggressive than an extra-cold lager, and it will still foam if the lines are warm.

Cider on CO2, not stout gas
Thatchers Gold is a proper draught cider, not a fruit-flavour tap. We run it on CO2 with a G-Type coupler. That matches Carling and Madri, not the S-Type on Strongbow.
If you want a second cider, Strongbow Dark Fruits is the usual contrast. Do not assume one coupler fits both. We check this on the quote.
Do you need a cooler?
Warm cider is a wasted keg. Flash cooling keeps Thatchers at 4–6°C as it hits the tap. Garden bars without a cellar should treat the cooler as part of the hire, not an optional extra.
About Thatchers Gold
Crafted at Myrtle Farm in Somerset, Thatchers Gold is a medium-dry golden cider with a clean apple finish. It is the cider we are asked for most often at weddings and outdoor parties when the brief is “cider, not lager”. It sits between a sweet fruit cider and a very dry farmhouse pint, which is why it works on a mixed guest list.

How we pour Thatchers
Cider needs a clean glass and a cold line. It does not need a two-part stout pour.
G-Type on first
Seat the Grundy coupler fully. A half-on head leaks and oxidises the cider.
Chill to 4–6°C
Cider can take a slightly higher serve than extra-cold lager, but it should still be properly cold.
Steady tap
Open fully and pour in one motion. Short pulls knock the sparkle out.
Keep it moving
Once tapped, cider is for the event, not for the following weekend.
How it works
A straightforward hire, from first enquiry through to collection.
Tell us the brief
Send the date, venue and guest numbers, plus whether you want Thatchers on its own or as part of a wider keg hire bar.
We spec the kit
We confirm keg size, the correct coupler and the right gas before anything leaves the warehouse.
Delivery and setup
We deliver, connect the lines and run the first pints so the system is pouring correctly.
Collection
After the event we collect the keg, gas and cooler. Any unused keg that is still sealed at collection is refunded in full.
Coverage and logistics
Thatchers is a regular outdoor hire across the Midlands and the areas we cover. Grass, generators and how far the keg has to travel from the van all go on the quote.
See cider kegs for other cider brands, or keg hire if you also need a lager tap.
Hire packages
Prices depend on keg size, location and date. We quote each event rather than listing a flat national rate.
